                            The Georgia Association for Volunteer Administration, Inc. (GAVA), formed in 1986, is a membership organization that promotes, develops and strengthens professionalism in volunteer leadership throughout the state of Georgia.

                            Purpose

                            The Georgia Association for Volunteer Administration, Inc., (GAVA), is a statewide organization of volunteer administrators (both paid and unpaid) and volunteers/community leaders. Its purpose is to develop leadership and sound management practices for volunteer administration and to promote volunteer administration as a profession. GAVA is organized as a Georgia nonprofit corporation for the following purposes:

                            a) Initiate and participate in the sharing and exchange of knowledge/experience in the creative use and management of volunteer services; develop and provide technical assistance; facilitate broad community development objectives; and market sound volunteer management practices.

                            b) Encourage and cooperate with other agencies, individuals, and organizations in developing professional education, and training skills for coordinators and others involved with volunteers; encompass a membership as broad and as widely representative of the entire volunteer community throughout the state of Georgia as possible;

                            c) Hold regular meetings, workshops, conferences and institutes;

                            d) Encourage the recognition and proper utilization of volunteer management skills and services and enhance the role and dignity of volunteer skills and voluntary service, both within and outside its membership; and

                            e) Provide professional volunteer management certification training to its membership and others through accredited schools of higher learning in Georgia.
